The 1st UFC event in New York City will go down November 12, 2016, at the Mecca of Fight Sports, Madison Square Garden. And in the words of UFC President, Dana White, “This is the best all-around fight card in UFC history.” And White’s not lying.
Featherweight champ, “the Notorious” Conor McGregor (20-3-0) takes on lightweight champ, Eddie Alvarez, for the UFC lightweight title. If all goes well for the Irishman, McGregor may leave MSG with two UFC belts. And if McGregor-Alvarez isn’t enough to get you excited, welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley, faces striking phenom, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, and strawweight champ, Joanna Jedrzejczyk will try to defend her title against Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Throw in an undercard that includes Chris Weidman, Frankie Edgar, Miesha Tate and Rashad Evans, and you have a total of three title bouts and 8 current or former champions scheduled to appear on the card.
If you’re only going to see one UFC event in 2016, this better be it!
